The growing crisis surrounding FIFA President Gianni Infantino has moved beyond one controversial commercial proposal. Questions over political neutrality, decision-making, accountability and independence are now testing whether FIFA’s governance structures can withstand scrutiny when concerns reach the very top of the organisation. For sport it raises a wider question: how should governance itself be tested when the rules come under pressure?
